Join the Noirlinians & the McKenna Museum of African American Art | New Orleans for the closing event for the 2016 PhotoNOLA exhibit “NOIRLINIANS” featuring photographers Patrick Melon, Blaze Edwards, Asia ‘Preach” Palmer & danielle miles.

We will be hosting a private screeening of the film “BOUND: Africans vs African Americans” by Kenyan filmmaker Perez Owino which explores the relationship between Africans and Black Americans historically and today, followed by a low key discussion featuring Denisio Truitt and Mwende Katwiwa talking more about their inspiration for the blog given the context the film lays. Come early for seats.

The evening will close with a dance party mixer in the exhibit room from 9-10pm to celebrate the closing of the exhibit.

A hard-hitting that addresses the tension between Africans and African Americans. Opening with personal testimonials, BOUND looks at the effects of colonialism and enslavement and how these have divided and bound Africans and African Americans. By Kenyan filmmaker Perez Owino
