(WWLTV) – A recent WWLTV investigative report suggests that internationally renowned New Orleans native jazz musician Irvin Mayfield steered money intended to help the city’s library system to his New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO) and ultimately on to the recently opened New Orleans Jazz Market on Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.  In the years since Katrina, Mayfield has championed the cause of fundraising for the New Orleans Public Library Foundation, an organization that supports a variety of programs focused on increasing literacy and cultural education among New Orleans residents.

Since the report aired on WWLTV, Louisiana law makers have moved to delay a portion of approximately $2 million in funding intended for NOJO until it can be determined whether or not any violations of state law have occurred in NOJO’s use of state funds.
